| Initiative Foundation Oversight of the Foundation's investments is the responsibility of the Board of Directors. A Finance Committee composed of six to eight current and past Board members, charged with monitoring investment and fund development activity, meets at least quarterly. In addition to other business, the Committee reviews investment returns and financial reports and makes recommendations to the full Board of Directors regarding investment objectives, policies, and procedures. Jeffrey Slocum & Associates (JSA), retained by the Foundation since July 1, 2000, is an independent consulting firm responsible for research, analysis and recommendations of investment managers. JSA assists with the development of investment objectives and policies, ongoing monitoring and investment performance analysis. The primary investment objective of the Foundation's investments is to provide a real rate of return over inflation sufficient to support in perpetuity the charitable mission of the Foundation. It is a priority to grow the assets in real terms to enable the Foundation to sustain the purchasing power of the spending on programs and administration without eroding the real value of the principal corpus of the Endowment. The Foundation works with component funds to set aside a portion of the base each year to offset inflation. Initiative Foundation Web site: www.ifound.org |
