| How can I support the Three Rivers Community Foundation? Since 1994, the Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 to support worthy local causes and activities. Your continued support means a larger endowment and more support for worthwhile activities that benefit our communities. The Three Rivers Community Foundation offers you an excellent opportunity to make a lasting contribution to your community and at the same time earn considerable tax benefits. Choose to make a gift now, or plan a future gift. Either way, you leave a lasting legacy while enhancing the quality of life in our communities. Gifts for Today Cash – One-time or multi-year cash pledges are often fully tax-deductible. Memorials – A gift can be made in memory of a loved one to create a lasting remembrance. Appreciated Securities – By giving stocks or bonds, donors may be able to by-pass capital gains taxes. Real Estate – A gift of property can provide federal tax advantages. Retirement Plan Assets – By naming TRCF as a beneficiary of a qualified retirement plan, donors retain control and lifetime income benefits. Gifts for the Future Wills – By naming TRCF as a beneficiary, donors may identify a specific dollar amount or percent of assets to be donated upon their death. Life Insurance – Donors earn tax benefits by naming TRCF as the owner of a new or existing policy, or by naming TRCF as a policy beneficiary. Donor-Advised Funds – Donors who wish to remain actively involved with charitable activities may establish their own grant-making fund. Mission: Leave a Legacy Minnesota is a collaborative effort to educate the public and promote the idea of giving through bequests and estate plans by increasing awareness of and interest in charitable planning. This collaboration consists of professional advisors working with nonprofit organizations including social services and arts organizations, places of worship, hospitals, educational institutions and other philanthropic associations. Background: "Leave a Legacy Minnesota (LAL) a program of the Minnesota Planned Giving Council, is one of more than eighty-five (85) similar programs across the United States and Canada... At its heart, Leave a Legacy seeks to educate individuals about how to make charitable bequests and inspire them to do so. National research demonstrates that less than six percent (6%) of households plan to make a charitable estate provision. The program seeks to increase the number of Minnesota households who commit to a charitable legacy." Program: The program consists of a public relations campaign (video, brochure and speakers bureau), web site (www.leavealegacyMinnesota.org) plus a network of professional advisors (attorneys, accountants, insurance agents, stockbrokers, and other financial advisors). The main fundraiser for TRCF is an annual golf tournament. The Three Rivers Community Foundation Annual Golf Tournament is celebrating its 19th year. This is the major fundraising effort put on by the foundation and takes countless hours of volunteer effort. It generates thousands of dollars to be used for grants to non-profit organizations in our service area. It is a fantastic day of fun, food, and great golf with many prizes to be won. This is one of the Twin Cities largest charity best ball golf tournaments. Registration is at 9:30 AM - start time 10 AM.
